Passionate?

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled." (Matthew 5.6)

This week (Feb. 1-7) we are focusing on this saying of Jesus'. It is easy to memorize, so try it. Use it as a mantra. Worried, bored, restless, want to focus; repeat it and let it seep into you.

Try this Jesus notion out this week and share your thoughts. What insights are you having? Let me know! Facebook me or "Jacob's Well Minneapolis", email me, twitter #jwsurprises, or if you are really wild and crazy you can call or just plain talk to me. Share your thoughts with your GroupLife group.

Here's some stuff to work on to wrap your head and heart around this saying...

1. What are you really passionate about? What does it feel like to be that way?

2. Let's assume that "righteousness" means aligning yourself with God, or as I said on Sunday, seeing the world with Jesus eyes. What is being passionate about seeing the world with Jesus eyes all about? Why would anyone be so excited to do that? What would they see? What would they do?

3. Jesus' promise is that people who do this get filled, so to figure out what that kind of filling is like start filling things and observing what happens when you do. Don't try to figure this out too fast. Fill. Observe. Repeat. Repeat again.    Fill things, fill responsibilities, fill people.

When you get passionate about seeing the world the way I know it is, God is part of it with you, and boy, it's gonna be like drinking from a fire hydrant.
