Project Homeless Connect on 4/28
I went to the training for Project Homeless Connect last week (the actual event is this Monday 4/28) - it was eye opening and very well done. I encourage everyone to read more about this project - links to more info and reflections from another Jacob's Weller here.
Anyone planning on volunteering on Monday ...Interested in a carpool or a bike pool? Meet at the JW office at 8:25 - we'll leave right at 8:30 for the convention center!
Is Jacob's Well comfortable? More from Claiborne
In our group last night we talked about Shane's observation that churches can easily end up avoiding any talk about the hard stuff from the message of Jesus...little things like the cross and Jesus' saying that we need to "give up everything" to follow him can make us uncomfortable! In an effort to be welcoming and user friendly - we can lose all the power of Jesus' message for our lives and for the world by not really looking straight at what this message invites us to do and be about.
Rock the Cradle event this Sunday at MIA!
Hey - is anyone else planning to go to Rock the Cradle at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts/Children's Theatre this Sunday afternoon? It sounds SUPER fun for kids and their grown ups! Also - a great place to wear our Jacob's Well tshirts and share that there is a new kind of church worth checking out...
After a House Meeting...
After the House Meetiing
13 people gathered for the first Jacob's Well House Meeting tonight! The treats were delicious, the conversation was significant, the company was fun!
Great connections were made as we took in and wrestled with what Jacob's Well is all about, how we're doing and what is ahead for us as we try to remain a real movement of God's love in the world...
House Meetings for Jacob's Well!
Join in and spread the word about these gatherings for Jacob's Well! They are important and we'll have a good time!
WHAT:
These boots, these groups were made for celebrating! Dec 5!
There has been a quiet rumbling of activity in homes and coffee shops around the city in the past two months: groups have been meeting! They've been talking about what God gave us "these boots" for; friendships have formed and deepened; people have made connections; people are serving together. And it has made a difference.
If you were involved in a group - or you'd like to come meet some people and hear about what groups have been like for people - join us for a holiday celebration this Wednesday evening! Details here!
Families - fun way to prepare for Christmas this Saturday!
What Color is Christmas?
This event is for Jacob's Well Families and Friends! It will be a great way to prepare for Christmas! We'll be using lots of colors to create a candle centerpiece to help your family countdown and prepare for Christmas. We have lots of fun stuff planned, so bring your famiy and invite some friends!
RSVP (we need to have the materials ready for you!): heidi@jacobs-well.net!
Connect, share this holiday.
The Thanksgivng dishes might still be dirty (or not even used yet!) when you read this...but it's time to think about getting Christmas going on the wonderful corner of 48th St & Chicago Ave where our office is. Come help deck the walls of our office and the streets on our block next week!
Come either or both of these days next week...bring a friend, bring your group, come and make a new friend.
10.10.10 encouragement
So I've taken on the 10.10.10 invitation that Greg talked about in the message on Sunday. I'm in a group - we all decided to give it a try and talk about how it goes next week.
Where it seems impossible to just MAKE myself have more integrity, better focus, more patience, more wisdom...(fill in your own blank here) - the 10.10.10 thing is something that I CAN do that just might open me up more and more to soak in the transforming love/light/life God has for me. That is the only thing that can really change me.
