The Devil Came on Horseback

If you've seen The Devil Came on Horseback, you know why I'm posting this entry. This movie is a terrifying look at genocide in Darfur, Sudan. It's a compelling documentary (available via NetFlix)... one you'll want to see. Here's a quick trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UyvoSaocUQ&feature=related. Just finished it myself... still processing, slightly paralyzed, or I'd write more. Anyone else see this?

Something to UnLearn?

Week 3 (April 13) of UnLearn is Violence... is this a match? Can we talk Joe at the Parkway into bringing the film in that week? He's into these indy films... I'll get it and watch it.

Boy, that would be great!

It's a match for that. For sure. It's not violence as most of know violence, but sometimes it's good to think of trajedy and misfortune beyond what we experience in our own lives. Beyond anything most of us can even imagine. The film does a good job of addressing the frustrations we face, too, when trying to spark change. There's a scene (you'll know it when you see it) toward the end when you really get a sense of how painful it can be to not feel able to help. Left me in tears.

Anyway, the issue is still hot so it would be great to raise awareness in the process. Let me know if I can help with anything.

Thanks for sharing this

I watched the trailer. Wow. The line that struck me was "Why shouldn't the world know about this?"
