It's Not Too Late!

Training sessions have just started for anyone interested in volunteering for Project Homeless Connect. My husband and I went tonight and even just an hour of "training" has me really excited to participate (on Monday, April 28). On the day of the event, volunteers work one-on-one with guests to help them receive the services they need to turn their lives around. They get to show some compassion and love for people who might not normally feel it. It was wonderful to see so many people at the training... willing and eager to help others in need. Your help will make a difference in someone's life.

Here were a few things I wrote down... Eye openning for me...

--There are approximately 9,200 homeless people on any given night in Minnesota alone.

--47% of those people are 21 years of age and younger.

--In order to have enough money to pay for an apartment in Minneapolis, someone earning minimum wage would have to work 80+ hours per week.

Excited too

Hey Laurie...I'm doing this event as well and cannot wait. I am doing the Downtown training at Faegre and Benson this coming Monday over lunch - so very excited about learning more. I'll be doing the 9-2 shift on Apr. 28.

Hope to see you and a LOT of others from JW on Apr. 28.

Peace, Steph
