Bible Readings from the Poetry, Proverbs and Prophets of the Old Testament

Here are readings from the week, including weblinks to read them on line.

We recommend the NRSV or NIV for more serious Bible reading, but when you just want to get the feel for the passages a paraphrase like The Message, TEV, NCV or CEV can be easier to read. The translation that will automatically come up on the links below is the NIV, but it is extremely easy to change.  NOTE: While this site (www.BibleGateway.com) provides excellent Bible reading and research tools, some of their views in other materials on their website may not reflect what you find at Jacob's Well. Just so you know.

These all come from the part of the Bible presented at Jacob's Well on Sunday, Nov. 2:

Monday  – Prophecies pointing towards Christ:

Isaiah 9.2-7; Isaiah 7.14; Micah 5.2-5a; Jeremiah 23.5-6; Jeremiah 31.31-34; Hosea 6.6

Tuesday & Wednesday – Psalms

Select from this variety of types of Psalms (songs): Psalm 1, 2, 80, 113, 121, 131

Thursday – The major Prophets

Isaiah 42 & Ezekiel 37

Friday – A minor Prophet

The whole book of Jonah (don’t worry, it’s short)

Saturday – Wisdom writings

Sample some Proverbs and read Job chapters 1-3 and 38-42.
