Giving makes it happen

Chances are you don't have a lot of extra money for the offering basket at Jacob's Well, but here's a challenge to think about that differently.

-     First, what has Jacob's Well given you? Our purpose is to connect people to God in ways that make a difference. If you have experienced even a little of that, it may be worth a lot to you.

-     Second, remember that everything comes from God. It isn't ours. God entrusts things to us to use consistently with God's intentions. To learn to trust God, and to make God's presence through the church healthy and strong in the world, God asks us to return the first portion back to God through the church.

-     Third, Jacob's Well is here for you because of the generosity of others. You and I aren't the end of the line, there are thousands more who Jacob's Well has been specially crafted by God to reach. Your generosity will not only ensure Jacob's Well is here for you, but for others.

When you make a commitment to regular giving to Jacob's Well it makes a difference. Here are some ways to do it. And remember, all your gifts are tax deductible.

-     If you only give occasionally, consider giving that same amount every week. If it is hard to keep track of because you aren't always there, consider using Simply Giving, a free, automated giving method you can change or stop anytime. Get set up below!

-     Figure out what percentage of your income you are giving and try growing by 1%. To figure it out divide your typical weekly gift by your weekly income and multiply by 100. That's the percentage you're giving now. Increase it by 1% of your income (weekly income divided by 100 added to what you are giving now) and try that.

-     Consider a special offering anytime. Give 10% of a special gift, check, bonus, rebate, etc.

These are just ideas. They can help you grow in your walk of faith. Even if you have very little and figure your couple of dollars won't make any difference, they will; for Jacob's Well, for God and for you. You may miss the money you give, but you will also discover something more valuable through the act of generosity, and you will touch the lives of many.
